Black Coffee and K.O. representing SA on international stages

If you know anything about world music festivals, Coachella and South by Southwest (SXSW) are right up there with the biggest and baddest of them all. Small wonder then, that South Africa’s house god and Skhanda Gawd would make the cut on these festivals’ bills.
Aafter the release of his #1 album ‘Pieces of Me’ Black Coffee broke news that he would be performing at the Coachella Music Festival. With the reveal of the full list of Coachella performers in January – featuring headliners Calvin Harris, Guns ‘n Roses and LCD Soundsystem – Black Coffee’s spot on the bill was confirmed.
Previous acts who’ve performed on the Coachella stage include Kanye West, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Madonna, The Killers and more. Nicki Minaj and Beyonce also shot scenes for their “Feeling Myself” video at the 2015 festival.
On Tuesday (12 January) it was also announced that South African rapper K.O would be playing a set at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. He is the only South African act to be announced as a performer among the 550 artist line-up. More artists are said to be announced in the coming weeks.
Now celebrating three decades of music, film and conferencing, SXSW is one of the largest and most influential annual events worldwide. Almost 28 000 participants from 82 countries attended the 2014 music conference.
