Generations Actress Thando Thabethe faces assault charge after fight at Parking Lot
A Joburg woman is taking Thando Thabethe, an actress on Generations: The Legacy, to court for defamation of character.
This follows a parking lot feud at Makro in Woodmead, north of Joburg, between Mary Fisher (58) and Thabethe (25) on Christmas Eve.
That’s because Thabethe claimed on social media and later told police that Fisher had assaulted her.
The alleged attack was the result of a question posed by Thabethe, asking Fisher why she had taken a parking bay the actress had identified and attempted to secure.
But apart from opening a counter case, Fisher said she was also considering a civil action against Thabethe. That’s because she believed the actress’s claims had injured her reputation.
Sandton police spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela confirmed the counter charge of common assault.
“No one has been arrested yet. We are still interviewing witnesses,” said Maphakela.
“After that, we’ll take the docket to court for a decision on whether to prosecute.”
According to Fisher: “I’m very, very hurt that she goes around lying about me. I’ll never slap a person for no reason. I’m taking the case to court because this woman is defaming me.
“The matter is with my lawyers. If you want a story, you must be in court. She thought I was just an ordinary citizen that she could lie about.”
According to a police statement seen by Sunday World, Fisher alleges that Thabethe and her boyfriend insulted her.
“The girlfriend [Thabethe] came, pointed at me with her finger on my forehead and said I didn’t know who she was. I then pushed the finger off my face and walked to the store,” read Fisher’s police statement.
But in her statement, Thabethe, who could not be reached for comment, claimed Fisher had slapped her across the face.
The actress had opened a case of common assault at the Sandton Police Station.
She also posted a picture of Fisher on her Instagram account, asking the public to help find her, as police were looking for her.
