#Uzalo Lovers, ‘Mxolisi’ And ‘Zwi’ Now Lovers In REAL Life!
AN Uzalo Love Story May Be Playing Out In Real Life As Onscreen “Love Birds” Gugu Zulu And Naymaps Maphalala Have Been Recently Spotted Enjoying Lunch In And Around Durban.
The sexy actress and musician was spotted by a fan with Maphalala, who plays her onscreen lover Mxolisi Xulu, at a restaurant at the Gateway Mall restaurant in Umhlanga Ridge, northern Durban.
The fan, who sent us the pictures of the two cosily having lunch, said she had spotted the two a number of times looking all lovey dovey at the upmarket mall.On Mzansi’s current number one ranked telenovela, Zulu plays the character of Zwi, who is Mxolisi ’ s new love interest.The two have set tongues wagging among Uzalo fans and gossip mongers. Some have asked if this is a question of life imitating art far more than art imitating life.When questioned by Sunday World, Zulu refused to be drawn into the rumours, saying she does not discuss her private life in the media.
“I don’t entertain rumours, people will always talk,” she said.
Working on music video
Her single Bambelela is already on high rotation in local radio stations in KZN.“We decided to launch it in the Valentine’s week because it’s a love song. It talks about values and patience in a relationship, ” said Zulu.
The 23-year-old Durbanite said she was inspired by the Shakespeare sonnet Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True
Minds, especially the line that reads “love is not love which alters when it alteration finds”.“Shakespeare says ‘ love alters not with his brief hours and weeks but bears it out even to the edge of doom’ and that ’ s profound.
“People are quick to divorce these days because they don’t understand that building a meaningful relationship takes time and patience,” Zulu said.
She said her song aims to bring people back to old school values.
Zulu said she would continue acting as the two careers were not mutually exclusive. “I am loving my time at
Uzalo and hope to grow my acting career further with time. Music and acting are both artistic expressions that I love with all my heart,” said Zulu.
Her producer, Xolani Majozi, who is also manager of the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo, said he was not aware of the rumours of romance involving Zulu.“All I know is that Gugu and Naymaps are working on the music video of her single. I don’t know anything about them being intimate,” said Majozi.Zulu graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Performance Studies from Howard College UKZN in 2013.
“I can sing any genre because my music taste is eclectic. I get ideas from a broad and diverse range of genres, including jazz, gospel and classical music. I am versatile, you can’t put me in a box, ” said Zulu.
She proved her versatility when she worked with music legends PJ Powers and Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 2015 on the Ladysmith Black Mambazo Night of the Legends concert held in Durban
