Vuyo Mbuli's widow wins bid to keep house

It's been a messy road for Vuyo Mbuli's widow since the news anchor died, but she finally managed to win a big legal battle.

It has been nearly three years since South African TV personality and news anchor, Vuyo Mbuli passed away. In the months following his death, the Mbuli household has been tainted with legal battle after legal battle
At the heart of these battles was his widow, Savita Mbuli, who was fighting banks and creditors in a bid to maintain ownership of her and Vuyo's home in Houghton, Johannesburg. The South African bank, FNB, have been trying to sue Savita in the years that have followed Vuyo's death and the bank was planning on selling the couple's home.

The bank planned to auction the property this year but Savita was successfully awarded an interdict

This comes after she had been embroiled in a fierce legal battle with the bank for the best of two years. They claimed that Vuyo owed them over R1 million and were trying to sue his widow for the money.
At the end of last week, however, that particular courtroom battle finally came to end when Judge Wepener of the South Gauteng High Court ruled to cancel the scheduled auction of Vuyo Mbuli's home.

Savita spoke to Sunday Sun and gave a short, relieved response after the verdict was given

"I did what I had to do to protect my kids. I can't comment any further."
Savita can now focus on getting things together for Vuyo Mbuli's memorial in a few months' time.
