Maps Maponyane has something to blame his mum
He is one on Mzansi’s most put together and effortlessly stylish men, has been described as GQ’S Best Dressed Man in 2011, was voted as the 2013 Cosmopolitan Magazine’s SA Sexiest Man. Despite having a lot of ladies wishing to land in his arms one good day, Maps Maponyane blames his mother for this.
‘My mom was always on my case to be clean and neat.’
“My mom was always on my case to be clean and neat. It became a way of life. She created that pride in me from my schooling days,” he said, explaining that being properly dressed is a quality his mom made sure he understood. Maponyane says this has furthermore played an influential role in him being the stylish man he is today and a huge part in his fashion career.
The television presenter, model and fashion designer says though he understands that the entertainment industry is not all gilts and glamour, “there is tons of potential money to be made in it”. The 26-year-old says he always tries to remind himself that he shouldn’t just end up as an employee but strive to be an employer as well, hence his many business interests.
